Replacement of local bus services previously operated by Utopia Coaches.
Posted Tue, Oct 17th 2017, 11:32When Utopia Coaches ceased trading in August a number of communities were left with no bus service. Alternative operators were sought for those services where the County Council offered some financial support and replacement services were introduced within a week.
However this left two services 493 Sherburn – Pontefract and 42 Selby – Cawood - York which Utopia had been operating commercially, with no financial support from the County Council. Replacement of these services was not done straight away as the indications were that the services were likely to be replaced commercially by other operators.
However the market has failed to provide an alternative commercial service and as a result the authority has decided to support replacements for these services. Details of the new timetables and bus operators from Monday 30th October are available at www.northyorks.gov.uk/businfo
Service 42 York – Cawood – Selby –Drax new timetable (including journeys to Drax previously on service 8)
Service 493 Sherburn in Elmet – Pontefract new timetable
Service 37 Tadcaster – York is unchanged
Service 492,493,494 Tadcaster – Sherburn in Elmet is unchanged
It is important that they are used, so that the usage builds to a level where the authority can continue to support the services in the future.
