BARLBY ROUNDABOUT NEWSLETTER 6 Weeks 10 & 11 commencing 21st November 2016

Over the past couple of weeks we have been progressing with the YW water main diversion. We've been laying kerbs to the south of Market Weighton Road and have been carrying out drainage works and  laying ducts for the new street lighting scheme. This coming week contractors working for YW will be preparing to drill under the A19 for the water main diversion. The drill pulls a pipe along with it under the road. The YW water main will be pulled through the pipe which prevents us from having to excavate a trench right through the carriageway. Over the next 2 weeks we will be forming the new manholes and continuing with drainage and kerbing works to the south of Market Weighton Road.

Ongoing temporary traffic lights on the A19 and Market Weighton Road

For the next 7 weeks temporary 3 way traffic lights will continue to be in operation Monday to Friday. The lights are required to ensure the safety of our workers where they have to work immediately alongside the A19. We apologise for the delays that some of you will be experiencing.
The temporary traffic lights will be in operation daily between 9.30 am and 4pm. The A19 and Market Weighton Road will be returned to full lane running outside these times.
The A19 and Market Weighton Road will remain fully open during this period. Please allow extra time within your journey to allow for some disruption due to the temporary traffic lights during the hours noted above.
Please also be mindful of the temporary enforceable reduction in the speed limit of 60 mph to 40 mph to protect our workforce.

This is the fifth edition of the newsletter that will keep you up to date with the progress of the roundabout construction on the existing A19/A163 Market Weighton Road junction and also changes to the existing York Road junction.
Over the past couple of weeks we have been excavating to the south of Market Weighton Road for the construction of the new carriageway. We have completed the majority of the kerbs to the north of Market Weighton Road. Part of the roundabout can now clearly be seen.
We have also carried out work to lower some BT fibre optic cables below the new carriageway.
A contractor for Yorkshire Water has been present on site to commence the diversion of a water main around the perimeter of the new roundabout. These are the blue pipes that can be seen as you drive past.
Over the next 2 weeks we will continue to import stone to the south of Market Weighton Road and continue laying kerbs.

The works to install the new water main will also continue
