This is the eighth edition of the newsletter that will keep you up to date with the progress of the roundabout construction on the existing A19/A163 Market Weighton Road junction and also changes to the existing York Road junction. Works on site will cease between Christmas and the New Year, therefore this newsletter also covers the first week in January. The drainage and gully pot installation to the east of the A19 is now substantially complete. The street lighting ducts and chambers and BT ducts are also finished. Our street lighting subcontractor has commenced erecting the new street lighting columns which will be lit before Christmas. The YW water main diversion works will be completed Monday 19th December. The week before Christmas will see us completing the kerbs to the east of the A19 and generally trimming the carriageways for surfacing in the new year. BT Openreach are also expected on site to complete the BT cable diversion.
We return to site on Tuesday 3rd January when final preparation for the surfacing works will take place.

The temporary 3 way traffic lights system will continue to be in operation week commencing 19th December but will not be in operation between Christmas and New Year, until we return to site on Tuesday 3rd January. The lights are required to ensure the safety of our workers where they have to work immediately alongside the A19. We apologize for the delays that some of you will be experiencing. When in operation the temporary traffic lights will be working daily between 9.30 am and 4pm. The A19 and Market Weighton Road will be returned to full lane running outside these times. The A19 and Market Weighton Road will remain fully open during this period. Please allow extra time within your journey to allow for some disruption due to the temporary traffic lights during the hours noted above. Please also be mindful of the temporary enforceable reduction in the speed limit of 60 mph to 40 mph to protect our workforce.

Selby District Council and Amey Plc have announced that there will be only minor changes to recycling and waste collections over the Christmas period.
Collection crews will be out and about over the festive season and residents will have their waste collected as usual unless their collection is due on Boxing Day. Bin tags detailing the collections have already been attached to bins in the district.
Refuse and kerbside box collections due on December 26 will be brought forward to Saturday 24 December. Medical waste collections due on December 26 will also take place on the 24 December.
In order to focus attention on collecting wrapping paper, present packaging, glass and tins, foil and all household plastics (apart from thin film), the Council will once again be suspending garden greens collections from Monday 19th December, with collections restarting the week beginning Monday 16th January.
All recycling and refuse should be left at the boundary of your property by 7am on collection day. Most extra waste at this time of year can be recycled.
Additional recycling, apart from glass, that does not fit into the boxes provided can be left out for collection in separate plastic bags. Any extra glass should be left in the plastic box to protect against breakages. When green waste collections start again (week commencing 16 January) real Christmas trees (less than 6ft tall with a trunk of less than 4 inches thick) can also be left out for collection. Decorations should be removed.
